Lynn, there are two fan motors. The evaporator fan motor in the freezer and the condenser fan motor in back to cool down your compressor. Which motor is cycling on and off ?
- AV Repair Help answered 12 years ago
Parsonsac, Can you please give us more detailes on the problem and make of the unit. Thanks Matt Ace technician
- AV Repair Help answered 12 years ago
Lynn, there are a few things you need to check for. 1) Can you open up the freezer door and here the evaporator fan motor running ? If you do not look for the switch at the top or bottom of the door and push it in, sometimes this fan switch needs to be pushed in to hear the motor run. If you hear the fan then touch the back wall of the freezer to see if there is a thin layer if frost on it . Please report back these findings to us so we can help you with your problem. R-401 is a replacement refrigerant for R-12. It is a blend of a few different refrigerants. Converting the system to R-134A is not recommended and would require a lot of work, new parts and money. Also, I have not seen or heard of remote mounting the compressor and condenser. This would require a lot of time and money to do. It would also alter the design of the unit and could create issues. I would not recommend this. I also have not heard or seen any of these units vented any differently than designed, but anything is possible. I would not recommend this either. The age of the unit will depend on how energy efficient your unit is. You may try looking in the owners manual or on the units energy guide sheet to find out exactly of efficient it is.

Hi. This could be a drain issue. Check inside your freezer, on the freezer floor. Is there ice build up on the freeze floor? If so this is a clogged drain tube. You will need to remove the evaporator cover in the freezer and clear the ice from the drain tube. Then use something, like a turkey baster, to force hot water down the drain until water drains down and out the drain into the drip pan. If there is not ice formed on your freezer floor you will need to investigate to see where this water is coming from such as the water filter housing or water lines on the back of the unit. I have attached videos to repair videos on clogged drain tubes.

Hi. It sounds like you are not getting enough water to the ice maker. All the ice molds should have water in them if you have good water pressure. When an ice maker does not get enough water it will produce small or hollow cubes and those cubes can get stuck in the ice maker rakes causing a “ice jam” to where the ice maker can not rotate to go through a cycle and therefore does not produce any ice. First I would restore water pressure to the unit. The filter is new so I would start by checking the water supply valve to the refrigerator and change if needed. Usually the water supply valve is a saddle valve or “T” valve. Theses valves do not last long before they clog up and reduce the water pressure to the unit. Also, being on a reverse osmosis system can be very problematic for water and ice dispensers in refrigerators. They can drastically reduce the water pressure to the unit. Once water pressure is good, if your still not making ice and temps in the freezer are good I would replace the ice maker. Or if you notice that the arms of the ice maker are getting frozen in the cubes, replace the ice maker. Attached are videos for this ice maker and a link to purchase a new ice maker.

Hi. If you could provide me with the model number of your dishwasher I can further assist you. There are a few different fuses in dishwashers. Are you talking about the Thermal cut off fuse located in the control panel near the control board?

Most drain set ups are generally all the same, and all use the same principal on how to remove water from the refrigerator. You may want to start in reverse, rather than look for the internal drain find the drain pan under the unit. Is it cracked? Is it overflowing? Is it bone dry? These are good indicators on what to look for next. One you have found the drain pan take a look around and find where the water should be flowing in from. Can you see debris in the tube? Is water coming out? Is the tube cracked? Locating the drain tube from the back is also going to give you a general reference point on where the drain is located inside the freezer. From inside the unit, most of the time you will need to remove several panels to reveal the evaporator, heater, and usually right below them, the drain pan. You can use a turkey baster and hot water to help clear ice and debris that may have clogged up the drain tube.
Take a look at the video link below, it may not be your exact set up but the components and the principles are the same.
Good Luck!

All the newer style washers have pretty much the same style of pump on them no matter what the brand, and pretty much all the same internal components. Typically what we see in the field, is clothing materials getting stuck in the impellers of the pump, binding it up. If the pump is partially tied up and still used, most likely you will need to replace the pump itself, they are not designed to work under extra stress! Once the internal components are damaged they typically do not operate the same ever again. It is defiantly worth the time and effort to try and clear all the debris first and try and salvage the original pump, however plan on maybe having to do the work again. We attached a common top load Maytag pump replacement video for you!
Good Luck!

Wade, it sounds like you have low water pressure due to a plugged saddle valve or a solenoid valve. I would start by replacing the saddle valve and then go to the solenoid valve if you don’t have a have a full tray of ice in 48 hours. See the video links below of the repairs you will need. Call 1-800-830-5465 for any parts you need. Thanks Matt Ace technician.

Cecil, it sounds like you have a part of your defrost system out. Shut the unit off with the doors open for 12 hours. Plug the unit back in and if it cools normally again after leaving it run for a few days then you have a part of your defrost system not working. I would start then by replacing your defrost timer and defrost thermostat. You can call our parts department at 1-800-830-5465 and order the parts if needed. Matt Ace technician

Sorry to hear about the power surge! đ
As anyone with any experience in the field will tell you power surges are no fun. Unfortunately power surges typically create multiple problems internally in appliances. You may have a bad compressor on that refrigerator but you may also have bad starting components or a burned out board or sensors. With power surge damage, is very difficult to pin down to just one or two parts that may have been compromised on any appliance. Getting a professional out to the home may be your best choice at this time. You may want to check with your insurance company too, many will reimburse you for the cost of the service call if the unit is deemed damaged from a power surge. I have attached two videos for you one on a compressor test you can try and one on disassembling a dishwasher door to get to the controls. Good Luck!

If it’s not going into defrost you need to check the defrost heater and termination thermostat if both are good you may have bad control board the heater and thermostat are on the evaporator in the freezer .when you check thermostat it has to be at least 40 degrees you check them with a volt ohm meter
- Jimmy, Ace Appliance answered 12 years ago
I would check lid switch first.could be that timer or motor
- Jimmy, Ace Appliance answered 12 years ago
I would check the lower element in the oven to see if it is damaged the best way to check it would be to ohm it out with a volt ohm meter make sure you unplug oven before removing element it could be that or relay on control board.
