Could a broken belt be the issue here? I checked all the electrical components and they seemed fine. Still have it all apart and don’t want to reassemble it to find there’s something else going on. I did clean out a lot of lint from the housing and venting and am guessing that’s where the burning smell was coming from. Am hoping this was just a simple and easy fix!

It’s very possible that it didn’t start due to the broken belt, if you’ve replaced that you can always reassemble and leave off the cabinet until you make sure it all checks out. And it’s a good idea to always clean out dryers while you’re inside them repairing something, that lint build up can be extremely dangerous. Hope this helps!
