The washer fills and stops. Replaced lid switch that wasnt the problem

I am trying to release the transmission from the unit to further look at possible tub not spinning problems. I have seen where you have to release the internal screw from at the bottom of the dispenser that helps to hold the transmission shaft. The screw head is stripped; and I am assuming that someone else has been into the unit. Is there a way of getting the screw off; or the plastic agitator shaft completely out of the way so I can continue at removing the transmission/basket drive from the bottom.
Thanks… Fred in Lubbock. TX

When starting a new washing cycle, the machine used to fill with water when the lid was closed, then the agitator would start after a few minutes…..Now, as soon as the lid is closed, the washer begins agitating with no water in the tub. The water starts filling about 5 seconds after the lid is closed with the agitator still working. The rest of the cycle appears normal until final spin…..It leaves some water (about 1/2 inch), at the bottom of the tub after the end of cycle. Now, the only way to get all water out of the tub after final spin is to turn on the extra rinse feature. This occurs regardless of wash type setting.

Hello, my front-load Whirlpool is making a clunking noise when it spins. When I stopped the machine and started to spin the drum by hand afterwards, I could hear an almost scraping-like noise (almost like there’s a coin or something stuck between the rubber band and the actual drum), but when I pull the rubber band back and look in, I can’t see anything there.
I’m concerned that something has fallen below the drum itself. Do you have any suggestions on how I could get to it or how I should proceed? How bad is this for my machine?
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have a washer that is testing my patience. Originally it wasn’t spinning out and I noticed the lid latch seemed loose, so I assumed it was the problem. Replaced it and same issue. Read on another website it could be the board, so I did that. Same thing. Anyone on here think of what else I could get my hands on to check? Really don’t want to have to buy a new one.

I have a Kenmore washer that the unit is not spinning and the clothes are sopping wet; but there is no standing water inside the tub. It sounds like it is in a spin mode but it is not spinning. I have checked the motor coupler and it appears to be fine… nothing is cracked or stripped… it seems to be in good condition. I have also checked the water hoses attached to the water pump and there is no blockage. What other conditions would cause the unit to not spin??? Would a possible transmission issue be next to check??? The unit sounds like it wants to work but nothing appears to spin; and the fabric softener is not dispensing during usage.
Thank you for any help –

My LG front load washer works like a charm, however every 10-15 loads or so it overfills. The water level in the washer will rise all the way to the top of the viewing window, and eventually overwhelms the door seal. Each time this has happened my wife and I have been stuck cleaning up apx 35 gallons of water. In between episodes the washer works great, the pump works, and the drain hose works. I have checked the filter, the sump, and the door seal/gasket all of which appear to be in fine shape. I suspect the appliance has a sensor that should be kicking in and preventing sooooo much water from filling the washer. Any suggestions?

I have checked and double checked the leveling of the washer and it’s perfect, but I still get the loud banging noise like the tub is out of balance and banging into the side of the washer’s frame.

Just watched your video and our washer has all of the symptoms of having a bad rear bearing. The washer is 9 years old. Is it worth fixing ourselves? Is it difficult?

The machine stopped and door is still locked and there is no power to the front panel. I’ve checked the circuit breaker and the outlet and there is power there. As I started to move the washer to work on it the power came on for a moment and displayed the (PF) code then powered off again. Which my manual says is “Electric service was lost when washer was running” Solution says to restart the cycle by pressing the cycle selector dial but as I said there is no power coming to the panel. I’m very mechanically inclined and to broke to call a repair person so I would love to do this myself if you could point me in the right direction. Any help you could provide would be awesome. Thank You!

Code 2: F: sensing rinse spin done E: rinse spin done
code 3: F: sensing rinse spin done E: done
code 4: F:sensing spin E: done
Can you please tell me what this means….

I am getting an F35 error on my washer as well as “SUDS” coming up. Been trying to find a video that might help me diagnose and repair it myself. Any thoughts on what could be causing it? Trying to get some direction.

I went trough the diagnostic mode and ran a few tests. In the diagnostic mode it starts up normally, fills with water, empties water and spins normally at a slow/medium speed. The error codes that show are F1 E2 which from what I have read is a problem with the Drive motor or Main electronic control board. When I go to calibrate it starts to spin for a split second then it comes to sudden stop as if it gets stuck and the lid lock light starts to blink. This all started because when we try to run the washing machine and it would stay in sensing mode with the lid lock flashing while making a loud humming noise. I eventually smelled an electrical burning smell after leaving it in sensing for several minutes. After attempting this again I am noticing that after it goes through the sensing mode a couple of times and it wants to start up but it looks like it gets stuck because it comes to a sudden stop just like it does when its trying to calibrate.
Could this be the drive motor or main electronic control board?

I can’t get my washer to spin and I keep hearing a clicking sound. I’ve turned it on its side and took off the shield, the belt and motor turn freely by hand. After watching one of your videos, I’m thinking I need the shift actuator part # W10006355 but wanted to see what you think before I purchased it. The washer appears to have a small leak, the actuator looks a little rusty.

My front load washer had been working properly, suddenly it stopped working at the beginning of a load. When I press any buttom it does not make anything. When I turn the knob, the little screen on the washer only shows parts of numbers. I tried to get the error code but it does not respond either. Thanks

Washer was making a loud squeaking noise and then stopped. Washer will fill up with water but then will do nothing. I love the videos but I have not found that addresses a washer that does not spin at all.

Hello
The washer will fill with water just fine but when it starts to wash sometimes it wont start the cycle and then sometimes it will quit in the cycle and it will start a buzzing noise. This will happen in the spin and drain cycles also. Some times you can unplug it from the wall and it will start back up. And sometimes I can tilt the whole machine and it will start back up.
This washer is maybe 5 years old and ever since it was new it would get off balance easily and you will have to rearrange the load. Our old one was over 35 years old Maytag and we never experience problems like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Cliff

NOTE: I placed two black lines on my tub and agitator to observe individual movement.
Initial observations of the Problem:
My top load washer “roared” in either the rinse/spin and completed the complete cycle. (I should have paid better attention to detail.) In the 2nd rinse the washer stopped with water in the tub. I noticed a burning smell and the motor went into thermal shutdown. As I removed the V-belt I noticed much black rubber from the belt( V-belt track was cut). The water pump pulley spun with great difficulty. When I tested the transmission via spinning the transmission pulley counter clockwise (CCW) the tub spun CCW. When I spun the transmission pulley clockwise (CW) the agitator moved CW, however I don’t know it is agitating since I’m doing this task myself.
I believe the water pump pulley bearing cause a lockup such that the V-belt burned rubber. The electric motor recovered from thermal shutdown and turned on after allowing it to cool and with the V-belt removed.
Questions:
1) If the transmission pulley is spun CW what should be seen? Should the agitator spin around the 360 degrees? Would the agitator spin “X” degrees and then restart?
2) Could there be something else wrong with the agitator if it spins and doesn’t agitate?
3) What is the best way to check thrust bearing when the pulley is all black and I don’t see the “markers” the new translucent transmission pulleys contain?
4) Is it possible to just replace the water pump bearing?
Summary:
I know the belt and water pump need fixing or replacing. Questions #1and #2 are the most important since if the transmission is smoked there is a big cost. If you can provide answers to the all questions great?
Thanks in advance,
JP
