Hi, We have ice that builds up in the bottom of the freezer in our Kenmore Cold Spot side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. I break it up and clean it out and within a couple days, it’s back. I’m not sure what is causing it or how to fix it. I’ve seen many posts online but none are specific to my model….just want to make sure we do the right thing to fix it. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give me.

My sister has the same bottom freezer refrigerator, purchased 2 yrs later, as mine. Mine developed a problem with defrosting water onto the floor. It needed to have a rubber grommet replaced by a drain tube. Does her newer model also need this upgrade?
(It has not leaked onto the floor as yet, but it is only lightly used so that could be why.)

Thank you!

The fridge is leaking water into the bottom drawer and it is not cooling. I saw the video Samsung RF268ABBP Refrigerator Repair – Fresh food section is leaking water – Sensor. This is the closest to the model I have. Also another one I saw similar is Samsung RF266AEPN Refrigerator Repair – Not cooling properly, freezing up on the back panel – Evaporator and Defrost System. Am I better off trying to replace the sensor or the whole Evaporator and defrost system on my Samsung RF267AERS ?

Thanks in advance for your answer!

SAMSUNG RS265 TDWP/XAA – purchased in 2012 .

Problems: no cooling air on the fridge compartment, but freezer has working normally.
The problem details:
o Water drained into and frosted under the vegetable bottom drawer for a couple weeks, stopped.
o Noise from fan was on and off in the following weeks and stopped.
o Now, no more cooling in the fridge compartment.
o I watched the VA video. Do you think the Evaporator Defrost system/heater, sensor, or the main board is needed for my refrigerator? What is the part number I should order on VA website?

I’d like to thank for your help.

First, your subzero refrige coil repair video is great!!

We have two Subero units with the 2 compressors in a tray. The 700 series and also a 427 wine cooler with lower drawers.

These units are a nightmare to work on due to limited access.

Since there is nothing obvious about how one might be able to ever get to the back compressor for service, a video would be a huge help.

Are your tech people familiar with these units with the tray, and would they consider a video?

If not, is there anyone there who I could talk to on the phone about the tray style subzeros?

Thanks

Hi, we have a 15 year old LG American style large fridge freezer that has stopped cooling/freezing overnight. There is power to the unit as the fridge light is working, however the freezer light is not. There is no sound coming from the compressor at all. I am just looking for some help with diagnosis, any information greatly received.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_1962912323&feature=iv&src_vid=VSiLmJQmzEY&v=Tk24ISRzSRs

I’m ordering the part from your parts dept. right now. But I’m concerned that I won’t be able to properly clean out the drain.

The repair guy I hired 3 years ago, when we first had this problem simply removed the drain check valve (grommet) – and put nothing in its place. Well now my freezer’s all iced up on the bottom and the drain must have clogged again.

I will thaw it out and shoot hot water in there, but I’m concerned that I won’t be able to properly clean the drain. Should I snake a wire up from the back (where the grommet used to be)?

I haven’t taken the freezer apart myself – so maybe there’s a way for me to see the drain and clean it from the freezer compartment. But from the video, I didn’t really see that.

Any advice? I would really appreciate it!!

Samsung RF4267HARS. First I found water in the bottom of the Refrigerator compartment and on the floor under the refrigerator. Now the food in my Flex Drawer is freezing. What should I fix or replace? I have been reading that the heaters are faulty and the drain sensor fails as well. Should I change out both while I am inside there?

How do you install the water tank assembly? I can see the water tank leaking causing water to pool in my refrigerator. I see where they exit the interior of the refrigerator, but can not locate where you connect the new part to the refrigerator. Thanks.

I know the drain Gromme needs to be replaced. The only doubt i have is that why did you remove the back portion to drain water? I have drained the water from the bottom however, could you please tell me the purpose of draining water by opening the back grill?

Hello,
Our refrigerator is now 6 years old. About a year ago we noticed the refrigerator temp was getting warmer and the freezer temperature was getting colder than what was displayed on the LCD screen. The temperature is about 10 degrees warmer in the refrigerator and 10-15 degrees colder in the freezer. We also heard the evaporator fan started to get loud. We took the refrigerator apart and had to de-ice the coils in the refrigerator. There was ice covering from the thermistor, evaporator line, heater, down to the coils, all the way down to the drain.

We have checked the seal on the refrigerator doors – they are fine. We have cleaned the dust from the back of the refrigerator as well as underneath. We have made sure there was at least a 2″ clearance from the refrigerator to the wall and counters. An HVAC technician has come to our house twice to replace some of the parts. I believe a new control board was even replaced. I have the part numbers, just not with me now. Once the refrigerator has been de-iced, the temperature will start to warm in the refrigerator/colder in the freezer within 2 weeks. We’ve already spent $400 on new parts for our refrigerator, but it still isn’t fixed. We would really like a second opinion on how we could repair our refrigerator before we put any more money into it.
Please help!!!

Thank you,
Kendra & Drew

We moved fridge to new home. I plugged it in before I knew there was a ground wire that needed to be connected. i heard a zap when I plugged it in. Now the fridge runs but does not get cold. I think I might have shorted something out. Is there a part I can replace?

We watched a few of your videos and have done all of this:
replaced water filter
water comes out of fridge just fine
no ice or water in ice cube trays
bar is not stuck
ice is not stuck in the blue catch bin preventing new ice from being made
water pressure is low where we live, but enough to run fridge
fridge temperature is at 36 which is cool enough, I think you said 38 or cooler
it was literally working perfect 1 day ago, and now just nothing

there is nowhere to run the jumper wire to run the simulation on the ice maker like he talks about in one of the diagnostic videos

We bought this fridge because it was “made in america” and have already had a couple problems with it! Of course now we are out of the warranty! My husband is very handy, so we will order the part from you if we can diagnose it. It just seems like there is no water getting to the tray and none of your videos address this problem, they all talk about there being ice but not ejecting.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We are very thankful for your help so far!

Has Samsung or anyone come up with a retofit Kit or a fix for this problem as of yet? I have watched the Excellent video and seen the replacement of these parts (heater, defrost sensor, etc.) , and the clearing of the water drain tube. I have read that there was a class action suit for these refrigerators, but nothing on a fix for the design problem. Can you offer some guidance before I purchase the parts needed to replace as per the video and find out that this will happen again…..Also were any of the parts that I order been revised as to help solve the icing problem?

Thank you,
Mark

We have had this fridge since 2011. About a year ago the fridge side wasn’t cooling but freezer side works fine. I finally did a lot of research and discovered that we have a dual evap fridge and decided to take matters into my own hands and open up the back of the inside fridge panel. I did find a little over frosting on the evaporator and I let it defrost. It begin working again. it would last a couple of months and do this again. More recently it started to not cool and I would just leave it alone and four days later it would start cooling again on its own. Now finally its been two weeks and has not cooled at all. I opened it up and the evaporator was somewhat frosted up and so was the drain hole. I unplugged it for 24hrs and let it defrost and made sure the drain hole was clear of ice by pouring a small amount of hot water in it. When I plugged it back in I noticed one flashing light on the temperature setting. the fifth light from the bottom to be exact, and I wasn’t able to press no other buttons. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it went away but the fridge still won’t cool. Everything that I have tried does not work. I ordered a new heater-sheath but now I’m wondering if I need a whole new evap assembly. Please help! we are so tired of having our food in a ice chest. Thank you for any information you can give us.

My Bottom Freezer refrigerator stopped cooling a few weeks ago. I checked the compressor compartment and the fan is still running. The compressor relay and capacitor tested OK (resistance btwn 5-10). The compressor also checks out OK. I tested the defrost timer (turning clockwise) and that does not seem to be the problem either. I then opened up the freezer compartment and tested the temperature control thermostat. I tested resistance while it was OFF…and no reading as expected. The tested it ON and it made sound, indicating a connection…so this was also tested OK. The final test I did was to test the Defrost Thermostat. I disconnected it and placed it into a cup of ice cold water for a few minutes and tested the resistance again (Ohms). The ohmmeter should sound (resistance) when I tested it in the cold water, but no sound, and no reading, indicating an issue. I did the test numerous times and same result. Lastly, today, while the defrost thermostat was unplugged and I had the refrigerator open (ice tray disconnected, defrost thermostat disconnected), I plugged the refrigerator into the outlet and the compressor came on and it started to freeze again. My question is this, could a bad defrost timer prevent the compressor from starting, even though my freezer didn’t have a froze over problem? I searched all over the web and all advice pointed to a bad relay or temperature control thermostat. But both (all) of these tested OK. I ordered a defrost timer because I concluded it was bad anyway. I unplugged the refrigerator again and left it off. Again, what else am I missing here?

Your response is kindly appreciated.

Regards

2 days ago we noticed beverages weren’t as cold as we expected. We checked that vents weren’t blocked. We adjusted the refrigerator to a colder setting. We’ve cleaned under refrigerator and even pulled it further from the wall. The freezer is working great. I did notice this morning that the freezer is developing some frost, and the coils in the back look like they are frosting over.
